Physiotherapy Assessment and Treatment

HCRC is the only clinic in Milton to have 5 FCAMPT Certified Physiotherapists with advanced orthopaedic training in assessment and treatment.

Assessment

Expect a detailed one hour assessment on your first visit, where you and your Physiotherapist will identify your problems and work together to establish a plan and goals for treatment.

Treatment

HCRC has a team approach to treatment. At each visit you can expect one to one time with your Physiotherapist, discussing problems and progress, receiving one to one manual therapy techniques, recommending modalities, and reviewing and updating your exercise program. Your Physiotherapist will be supported by our Registered Kinesiologists and Physiotherapy Assistants during your visit.

Treatment will vary depending on your specific needs and may include:

Manual Therapy

  • Joint mobilization and/or manipulation
  • Soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release techniques, muscle energy techniques, and/or stretches.

Special Modalities

  • Ultrasound, interferential current, TENS, paraffin wax, iontophoresis or electrical muscle stimulation
  • Acupuncture or IMS (intramuscular stimulation)
  • Traction
  • Spinal Decompression
  • Class 3B Bioflex Laser
  • Class 4 Laser

Exercise and Education

  • Education regarding your problem/condition, home exercise, performing daily activities at work, home or school and preventing problems in the future.
  • Exercises such as stretches, strengthening, self-mobilization, balance and proprioception training and stabilization.
  • Sport or work specific functional exercise and training
